After self teaching myself some basic Sign Language back  in 2000, using BSL 

   has become a part of my planning, story telling and workshops. Both children and adults alike develop a fantastic connection with this wonderful language,

I've incorporated it's use in drama, dance, signing choirs along with flags and ribbons.  Being able to communicate in a new way actually helps you, whatever your age.  Getitng the brain to learn something new does wonders for your capacity to learn other new skills or enhance what you've already learnt.
